Field surface: Turf infields
Turf infields. PenMet Parks rents the baseball field and the softball fields here as fields "with turf infields and dugouts." Its state grant file says the dirt infields on all three baseball/softball fields were converted to synthetic turf. GSL Tournaments' field list also rates Sehmel Park as turf. We haven't found an official note on the outfields, so expect turf infields and check your field if outfield surface matters. (3 diamonds with synthetic turf infields: one 375-foot baseball field (Gig Harbor Little League's 90-foot diamond) and two 300-foot combination baseball/softball fields)
Cleats: Rubber cleats only at GSL events (GSL never allows metal spikes on turf fields or portable mounds).

GSL Tournaments lists Sehmel Park in its fields directory and posts hotel links on its event pages, but we didn't find a published stay-to-play requirement. Rules vary by event and organizer, so check your event page before booking.
Quick facts
- 98-acre PenMet Parks site in the North Rosedale area northwest of downtown Gig Harbor, with about 22 acres of sports fields and 76 acres of meadow, pond, wetland and forest.
- Parks are open 7 a.m. to dusk (PenMet Parks). Dogs must be leashed in the park, but GSL lists Sehmel as no pets at its events.
- Restrooms, a Boundless playground, picnic shelter, a full-size lighted turf soccer field, tennis/pickleball and basketball courts, and about four miles of trails.
- The PenMet concession stand here is cashless (cards only) and opens weekends in summer: Saturdays and Sundays 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Apr 25 to Aug 23 in 2026.

Harbor History Museum
